Applications are called from eligible Sri Lankan citizens to recruit trainees to the following training courses of the service of Professions Supplementary to Medicine and Paramedical services of the Ministry of Health. A/L Bio Stream students have several opportunities in these courses

General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) was initially established as the “General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy” by the Parliamentary Act No 68 of 1981 and subsequently it was elevated to University status by the amendment Act No 27 of 1988, thereby empowering it to award Bachelors’ and Postgraduate degrees in Defence Studies.KDU is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (United Kingdom) and maintains necessary standards for educating and grooming Officer Cadets to meet the challenges of modern defence management.                         

                                   

Faculty of Medicine - MBBS degree         

                                   

"Established in 2009, the Faculty of Medicine (FOM) General Sir John Kotelawela Defence University is the only national military medical institution of higher education in Sri Lanka. The MBBS programme offered by the faculty is available only for military cadets and foreign students on fee-levying basis.

 

The faculty follows a traditional medical curriculum spread over five years. In addition to the fourteen subjects taught at civilian medical schools, these students are exposed to Military, Aviation, Naval, Nuclear, Trauma and Emergency Medicine as MMS are trained to serve in the tri-forces.
